By popular vote on my Instagram about a month ago, I am finally starting my blog. For those of you who aren't quite familiar with me, my name is Tadas, I'm a freelance automotive photographer from Vilnius, Lithuania.
I want to start this series off with the car that I have taken the most amount of photos of (excluding my own car). That car is none other than the BMW E92!
It seems like every generation of the BMW 3 Series has always been the benchmark sports sedan/coupe, and the E92 was no exception. Now I'm not a huge BMW fan myself, but I can't deny the aura that surrounds the 3 Series Badge. It has the perfect recipe for an amazing sports coupe, and it has the perfect setup for anyone who loves driving.
And now the E92 is quickly becoming the go-to affordable sports coupe, not only here in Lithuania, but all over the EU and the US.
Under the Hood
Under the hood, we have a 3.0-liter naturally-aspirated I6 engine that makes 172 kW (231 hp) and 200 lb-ft of torque - letting the car reach 100 km/h in about 6.2 seconds. This isn't a lot by today's standards, but it's still a hell of a lot of fun! Because it's not all about the numbers, it never is.
No matter what you think of the newer 3 series, a lot of people say that this is the final proper 3 Series because it has that signature combo that it’s well known for. Naturally aspirated I6 with a 50/50 weight distribution, and hydraulic power steering.
Undeniable Looks
As a photographer, I spend hours upon hours looking at cars. First during the photoshoot and then for another 10+ hours in Photoshop. That's a very long time to spend looking at something and because of that, I start noticing every little detail that designers have put into this car.
Now I know this is an older car and people already have their opinions about everything from the design to the engine, but this car is truly a work of beauty. The proportions are spot-on, and it looks amazing from every angle even so many years later.
The Affordable Enthusiast’s Car
With all things considered - this car is crazily affordable. Here in Lithuania, you can find them in the 6,000 - 8,000 Euro range. Which is amazing for what you get. If you want a car with some tech, but one that is not overcrowded with it - this car is perfect. And then when you consider the incredibly fun engine, the looks, and just how fun the drive is? It's no wonder this car is so popular.
So, to end this off, I'd like to start a conversation: is the BMW E92 a future classic? Leave a comment on Facebook and let me know!
Thank you for reading! As a special thank you for reading my first review, if you book a photoshoot with me until the 30th of November 2020 and tell me that you read this review, I’ll give you a 25% discount!
